What's next?

Philippa Young

Designing an Analogue Low Pass Filter System for a Quantum Ion Trap.

What is the next step in the Project?

Firstly the prototype filter needs to be in working order. This involves changing the component values so that the inductors are much bigger in value.

After testing this filter can be replicated 100 times. It may be worth looking into getting a company to make the pcbs and solder the components on. The cost of this would need to be evaluated and weighed up against the cost of parts if we made the filters, the cost of the etching tank and chemicals and the time it would take someone to solder.

Once the 100 filters are built and tested they can be mounted onto the vacuum system and used to filter the signals going to the electrodes in the trap. The filter system is then complete.
