Research Project
Richard Eggleston
At the start of the Summer, I had to choose a research project to work on. I received an email from Prof. Phil Harris saying he had a suggestion for a project which, though not directly related to any current research, would prove to be a very interesting assignment. The project consisted of studying the cloud chamber setup; improving the design and coming up with a 'how-to' guide that would guarantee an operating chamber. The purpose of this was to be able to take a DIY kit to schools and get A-Level students doing some practical physics. Alongside this, I was also asked to build a display chamber that could be used on open and admission days to show physics in action.
