FAQ Email Response
Queries on University of Sussex business?
Please note that from December 2010 I leave the employment of the
University of Sussex, and my status becomes an Associate or Visiting
Researcher. So for matters related to the EASy MSc, go to the new
Convenor, Phil Husbands, philh@sussex.ac.uk.Other enquiries might well
be best first directed to the Informatics School Office.
Why haven't I replied to you?
I cannot reply to most of the emails I receive. I usually spend time
most days responding to the priority emails that can get
instant responses. I usually try and keep time available on Fridays to
catch up with priority emails that need longer responses - but
sometimes this time is not enough each week, indeed for several weeks.
Sometimes I am absent with (deliberately) no email contact for some
weeks. When a message that I wanted to respond to gets too old, it gets
lost. Sorry!
Was your email necessary?
Please check my FAQ
page, I am trying to post responses to common emails I receive
there. For administrative enquiries related to EASy MSc or to DPhil
applications, mailto:scitech-postgrad@sussex.ac.uk.
Which priority emails do usually get a quick response?
If I am already in an email conversation with you, you get higher
priority than those initialising an interaction..If you are a
former student needing a
reference, this will get high priority if you follow the instructions here. If the type of
response you want from me takes less than 2 minutes of my time, you
will get a much higher priority than if
I have to find an uninterrupted block of time to think up an extended
response -- so one suggestion if you have a long-unanswered query is to
rephrase it to fit into this category.
