I was born in western Canada, and recieved a PhD in Mathematics (working on Measurement Based Quantum Computation) as a member of the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo in 2009. From 2016 – 2019 I was an acting Work Package Leader in the Networked Quantum Information Technologies project, the predecessor of the ongoing Quantum Computing & Simulation Hub.
I am currently a Lecturer in Theoretical Computer Science at the School of Engineering and Informatics, University of Sussex. I am the first member of the informal Quantum Architectures, Software, and Informatics (quasi) group. My University profile is here.
My research is predominantly in:
I am happy to supervise talented students who want to do a PhD in quantum technologies or computational complexity at the University of Sussex. (Brighton is also an excellent place to live!) We sometimes offer scholarships to exceptional students. Feel free to send me unofficial enquiries about PhD topics — but you need to officially apply here.
