Galileo

On February the Fifteenth
Galileo was born the eldest son
He discovered the centre of the
Universe was the one and only sun.
And all other planets
Revolved around it
Including the earth;
What a clever git!
Born in 1564,
When Shakespeare was born
But two months before
He was born in a Tuscan Family
And taught in Padua University.
He had a relationship with Marina Gamba
A well-known player of the viola di gamba
They soon parted in 1610
When Galileo left Padua and then
In 1611 his new telescope he used
To view things that nobody ever knew
And with his observations he wrote a book
Called `The Starry Messenger' for people to look
And learn of the things that no-one ever knew
And then he died in 1642.
