Guidelines for trading video tapes
Sorry to be fussy, but...
- I can watch NTSC (SP or SLP only; not LP) or PAL (normal or
LP).
- I can only dub my PAL tapes, and I can only dub them into PAL, so
you will need some kind of PAL player & TV or some conversion process
to watch the tapes I make for you if you are in the US.
- When making tapes for me, please make HIFI (stereo) copies
whenever possible.
- If you are using the HIFI track on an NTSC tape, please lower the
recording levels dramatically (peaking, say, at -10db); my machine
plays NTSC HIFI tracks back at too high of a level.
- Please do not use a slower speed (e.g., SLP) if at all possible.
If you have to, then use SLP; I cannot view LP tapes.
- Please let me know what grade of video tape you are using, and
what you require. I only dub onto new tapes; I expect the
same to be done for me.
- In general, I assume that if I copy 180 minutes of video for you, then
you will copy 180 minutes of video for me.
- I do not like selections to be cut off in the middle by the end of
the tape, so if this happens, I like the entire selection to be
recorded elsewhere.
- I prefer original track ordering to be preserved as much as
possible.
- I like to have my tapes full, so if there is a lot of blank space
at the end of the tape, either ask me for a filler suggestion, or at
least surprise me with something that you think I don't have, but
might like. I will typically only do this for you if you request
it.
- I like to have track listings for all my tapes, and venue, date,
and personnel info if possible for live tapes.
- I send tapes airmail (small packet)
