Chief Scout Garth Morrison has it backward ("We're not prepared to salute adulterer", June 12). It will actually do scouts harm if the governing council were to scrap the oath of loyalty to the monarch just because Prince Charles has admitted aldultery. Doing so would give scouts the impression that if it were not for the sin revealed in that brave confession, the monarchy would be guiltless. If they are going to question loyalty to the monarch, they are obliged to do it for substantial reasons -- of which there are many. Ronald L.
