Restaurants

There are actually four restaurants and bars close by , although on our last visit only three were open and are the ones shown on the map .

South of the house and a four minute walk away is the restaurant complex at Sant Vicent with a nice terrace and bar which are open during the summer. There seem to be at least three resaurants within the complex which cater for many tastes and price ranges including a 3 course `menu of the day` which is normally served at lunch times and costs a huge 8 Euros per head including a half bottle of house wine . We also have it on good authority that there is an `as-much-as-you-can-eat` carvery on a Sunday , although we haven`t experienced it yet !

North of the house on the CV-25 are two places both within a 10 minute walk : A nice new restaurant to the East , which although is the more expensive of the two has the nicest surroundings and a tapas bar directly opposite to the West .This looks a little `rough and ready` but the food is excellent value and ideal if you have kids who would prefer to pick at things .Both places have very friendly staff who appeared to be patient with my incompetant Spanish !

The fourth place you`ll see on your drive towards Lliria and is a cafe close to the CV-35 about a twenty minute walk away . We`ve been advised that it`s very good but on our last trip it wasn`t open so are unable to comment .

Supermarkets

The closest supermarket is in Lliria and is about a 10 minute drive away .If you follow the route laid out at the bottom of the directions page to get onto the main road into town , you need to turn right at the third set of lights and then the next right to enter the supermarket multi-storey car park . An alternative road to park on the street would be a left turn just after the sports complex and then right at the next mini roundabout . If you choose to use the multi-storey beware of the tight turn at the very top of the ramp as you go in . You may find you have to swing out left a little in order to navigate the pillars as you go in the `right` way ( there are those who choose to enter through the exit ) and look out for cars crossing your path from your right as they exit . Don`t forget your 1 Euro for the trolly and show your car park ticket at the checkout . The cashier will give you your receipt which have a bar-code on the bottom - you then scan this at the exit barrier to lift the gate.

There are obviously many other shops and supermarkets within the town and included in these is a `Lidl` at the South end of Lliria which although is about a 15 minute drive away from the house , is a little cheaper than the one in the middle of the town but doesn`t have quite so much choice. To get there go back on the CV-35 towards Valencia and take the next exit right ( Junction 16 ) . At the roundabout turn right to Lliria and as you approach the small industrial area , Lidl is the third unit on the right beyond the petrol station on the left . This is also the way to the Metro station whereby you would by-pass Lidl and at the next roundabout take the second exit . The station is about 100m along the road on the left where you will find a free cark park .You may find it easier going back to the house , to re-trace your journey rather than navigate Lliria but if you do , beware turning back onto the main road from the supermarket as the cars coming from your left are usually travelling quite quickly !

If you want the `big` shopping experience there is also a Carrefour at junction 13 on the CV-35 to Valencia . Turn right at this junction and then right again at the roundabout . There is a `T` junction where you have to stop and wait for the traffic coming from your right and you need to go straight ahead . Follow the road that runs parallel to the CV-35 and Carrefour is about 2 km back in the direction of Lliria . It gets very busy after 4.00pm so be warned . There are lots of shops , restaurants and cafe`s there and the inevitable McDonalds : the only saving grace of which is that it serves beer ! ;-) To get back to the CV-35 , re-trace your route alondside the main road and turn left at the big roundabout to find the road going over the CV-35 to loop back in the direction of lliria

Metro

An alternative to driving into Valencia is to take the Metro from Lliria which is the terminus at the end of `line 1 ` ( Yellow ) The trip to the city takes about 40 minutes and costs around 4.50 euros return for an adult . It`s a `zone system and Lliria is Zone C while Valencia is Zone A .The trains leave every 45 minutes or so but check your return journey as the trains don`t run all through the night. Like London , not all city metro stations link to every line ( of which there are 5 ) so you may have to search a little coming back to find the yellow one .
