Thank you for considering taking part in this study! Please read the following information carefully before starting the questionnaire:
- You must be over 18 to participate.
- Please do not take this questionnaire if you: are severely dyslexic or dyscalculic, have an uncorrected visual impairment or are blind, or have any similar disability or physical/mental health condition. This questionnaire requires reading paragraphs of text and looking at images, working with numbers and shapes, and using a mouse to click on and move things with a reasonable degree of accuracy. If you have a condition or disability that would make these things very difficult, the questionnaire is not suitable for you. (Colour is not important in the questionnaire, so colour blindness is not an issue.)
- Use a laptop or desktop computer to take the questionnaire. Do not take the questionnaire on a mobile device or tablet, as some questions will not display correctly. Your entry will not be valid if you use a mobile device or tablet device.
- The questionnaire should take between forty minutes and an hour to complete – we are interested in the accuracy of your answers, not how fast you can complete the questionnaire, so please do not rush! You should plan to be somewhere quiet, where you can focus on the questionnaire and not be interrupted for the full time. The questionnaire requires some concentration, so please try not to take it when you are distracted, overly tired, or otherwise unable to fully concentrate.
- When taking the questionnaire, please take the whole questionnaire in one go, and do not take breaks after beginning it.
- Completing the questionnaire entitles you to £10.
- We will check your answers before providing compensation. If it is apparent that you have not read these instructions, or have not completed the questionnaire in good faith (i.e. make sensible attempts, taking time to think about each question), we reserve the right to reject your submission and withhold payment. This is due to an influx of spam responses, and should not affect genuine participants.
- To prove you have read these instructions, please put an exclamation mark at the end of your Prolific ID you will be asked to provide at the beginning of the questionnaire.
